Back East

Los Angeles has a lot to offer when it comes to creative inspiration. With endless amounts of sunshine, access to the Pacific Ocean, and a more relaxed feel than New York, it’s easy to see why there is an abundance of transplants here. I find the way people dress and how they hold themselves to be inspiring, and it has recently altered my own behavior. But I still find that Los Angeles can be a creative suck.

Emily and I traveled back East for a week recently, and I found the trip to be a creative release. Maybe growing up around green and rain has permanently affected what inspires me, but each time we travel back to the East Coast, I find inspiration again. There is nothing like experiencing the rain when you've gone without it for months at a time. While southeastern Pennsylvania will never offer what Los Angeles does, it can provide a color pallet that soothes and a forecast that will usually include rain at least once a month.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Los Angeles and it has grown significantly on my heart, but getting away will always be important to me. Whether it’s the East Coast or the Pacific Northwest, I long to go to these places when I find myself in a creative rut. Maybe it will take some time, but I hope that I can eventually find this inspiration within Los Angeles.
